You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the NAVOSH Program Management Section (KN623), Safety Branch (KN62), Safety and Compliance Division (KN62), and Compliance and Quality Department (KN6) of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. The incumbent is responsible for championing national safety initiatives, developing internal and external partnerships, performing comprehensive analysis, and promoting new/existing safety programs.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
- You will take charge in the absence of the Safety Branch Head with full responsibility to take action and to provide continuity in all matters pertaining to the assigned organizational entity.
- You will serve as the Safety Branch, NAVOSH Program Management Section Head, planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating programs involving diverse maintenance aviation and industrial safety and occupational health responsibilities.
- You will provide advisory safety services throughout the command and other external activities when required.
- You will participate as a member on the Safety Accountability Board when requested providing guidance and technical support.
- You will consult and maintain liaison with other safety and health personnel such as COMFRC, FRCs, Bureau of Medicine, Occupational Health Clinic, etc. to resolve occupational health hazards.
- You will coordinate directly with departments and interpret higher level policies and regulations in the performance of safety duties.
- You will review and evaluate a wide variety of aircraft maintenance practices and procedures.
- You will analyze complex hazards involving combined mechanical and equipment operations as well as use of toxic and flammable materials in diverse hangar and industrial shop environments.
- You will plan alternative courses of specialized action to resolve hazardous conditions and unsafe working practices.
