Position Description

You will serve as a Machinist Leader in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will provide technical leadership to artisans performing aircraft field service repairs, modifications, and rework of aircraft structures and components.
  • You will overhaul, repair, and modify complex aerospace fittings and structural components by interpreting blueprints, local engineering specifications, and engineering dispositions.
  • You will use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges) to execute high-tolerance machining operations in accordance with aerospace specifications.
  • You will conduct multifaceted dimensional and structural inspections on aircraft modules, including flight control surfaces, wing structures, pylons, and landing gear assemblies.
  • You will remove, design, fabricate, and install precision-fit bushings and sleeve assemblies on various complex aircraft modules and structures.
  • You will set up, program, and safely operate manual mill and lathe machinery to manufacture replacement parts from specialized aerospace alloys (e.g., titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel).
  • You will apply in-depth working knowledge and understanding of metals to choose proper tooling, set machine speeds, and conduct approved heat treatments.
  • You will maintain compliance with aviation safety protocols, tool control programs, and quality assurance standards to ensure zero-defect production.
  • You will utilize trade mathematics to accomplish a variety of machining and aircraft projects.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.
