Position Description

The Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP) is a two to three year leadership and development program designed to enhance the professional knowledge and capabilities of personnel recruited into the Acquisition Workforce (AWF) for the Department of the Navy (DON).​ The NADP is managed by the Naval Acquisition Career Center (NACC) in a joint effort with naval commands to replenish and sustain the acquisition workforce by providing entry level positions across the country, to include Hawaii and Guam.  These civilian career opportunities start at the GS-7 or GS-9 level depending upon education and job series requirements with promotion potential to the GS-12 level.  The NADP supports 24 job series​​​ within the AWF and position availability will vary by location​.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Functional Area- Sustainment:

Participants will provide the resources to develop, plan and integrate support considerations into designs and to establish and maintain integrated logistics support (ILS) capable of supporting fleet operations and maintenance throughout the life cycle of aviation weapons systems and related equipment. This is accomplished throughout the life cycle of the naval weapons systems, subsystems, support equipment, and related equipment.

 

Typical duties could include the following:

  • Provide review/updates to programmatic documentation Life Cycle Sustainment Plan, Demilitarization Plan, Maintenance Plans, etc.
  • Provide timely answers/resolutions, troubleshooting problems and recommending procedural changes using Conventional Ordnance Deficiency Reports (CODR’s).
  • Review technical publication to ensure procedural steps and weapon information is correct.
  • Plan, manage, analyze, implement, and sustain maintenance concepts, operations, and activities to deliver maintenance capabilities that support the Warfighter throughout the system life cycle.
  • Provide Supply Support to include but not limited to cataloging/provisioning new items, developing/updating Allowance Parts List (APL) and Allowance Equipment List (AEL). Plan, manage, analyze, source, and implement supply chain management necessary to acquire, store, issue, and dispose of all required supplies, spares, and repair parts to support the warfighter throughout system’s lifecycle.
  • Analyze and influence the systems engineering process and system design throughout the life cycle for reliability, maintainability, supportability, suitability, inherent availability.
  • Identify, analyze, plan, manage, develop, source, implement, and sustain training and training support for personnel that manage, operate, maintain, and support the system. Working with Flight Test Engineers to acquire test assets and equipment for events.
  • Maintain and updated Support Equipment Recommendation Data for all support eq assigned to your program.
  • Identify, analyze, plan, source, acquire, and sustain Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation (PHS&T) to maximize availability and usability of material and equipment for systems and associated components. Review data needed to be put into Special Packaging Instructions (SPI).
  • Coordinate and deliver top-tier CM/DM expertise to all IPTs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and driving best practices in configuration management.
  • Responsible for identifying and baselining Configuration Items (CIs), meticulously managing revision control, and ensuring all software, hardware, and documentation are securely marked, archived, and readily retrievable.
  • develop and maintaining the Data Manager Process & Procedures Manual to tracking the status of technical and contractual documentation, you'll streamline data handling, ensuring appropriate delivery and accessibility of program data.
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvements to CM/DM processes, considering existing tools and operations, participating in standardization efforts, and contributing to the CM/DM Deskbook/Deskguide.
  • Coordinate CM/DM training, communicate activities to program leadership, and serve as the central point of contact for technical and management data distribution and archival, fostering a culture of CM/DM excellence.
