Position Duties/Responsibilities
- You will perform inspections and maintenance on shipboard and shore-based catapult, arresting gear and visual landing aids.
- You will disassemble, repair, inspect, adjust, align, and installs water brake cylinders, covers, launch and exhaust valves, operates cylinder gap test equipment, assists in dead-load testing of catapults and retract engine as relating to catapults.
- You will disassemble, repair, adjusts, aligns, install sheave nests, crossheads, accumulators CRO valves/drive sys, anchor/sheave dampers, fairlead sys, wire supt. assemblies, barricade sys, retractable sheave assemblies in aircraft arresting sys.
- You will installs service changes, repairs and aligns pumps, performs hydrostatic tests on valves, hydraulic cylinders, heat exchangers and pneumatic components.
- You will perform test operations on machinery and alters equipment to provide access or permit observation during tests or experiments.
- You will utilize various portable machine tools and grinders; uses precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges, height gauges, and various types of micrometers laser for catapult alignment and Theodolite.
- You will perform and assists with various jobs on engines, lathes, milling machines, drill press, boring mills and other machinery associated with inside machine shop work and equipment.
