Position Description

You will serve as either a GENERAL ENGINEER, SAFETY ENGINEER, MECHANICAL ENGINEER, or AEROSPACE ENGINEER in the SYSTEM SAFETY AND AIR SYSTEMS INTEGRATION DEPARTMENT, SYSTEM SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING DIVISION, SYSTEM SAFETY BRANCH of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the subject matter expert for the application of System Safety for programs and projects.
  • You will provide technical direction for the planning, organizing, directing, conducting and reporting of system safety engineering in direct support of programs and integrated systems for air and sea applications.
  • You will chair and participate in system safety working groups, conferences/technical meetings at government activities, or contractor facilities as required.
  • You will manage the system safety program by creating and tailoring system safety requirements for developing new specifications, and modifying aircraft equipment.
  • You will interpret test results, brief flight and ground test personnel on project safety plans and outcomes and develop new system safety test techniques and approaches to reduce the severity and frequency of hazards and mishaps.
  • You will keep abreast of state-of-the-art technologies applicable to tactical aircraft weapon systems.
