Position Description

You will serve as the Director, Air Systems Group (ASG), within the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at Patuxent River, MD. You will be responsible for executing major NAWCAD mission functions for all aspects of research, development and logistics of airframes, subsystems, power and propulsion systems, to include several laboratory and test facilities.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will work in collaboration with the other NAWCAD Executives to leverage resources and personnel across all domains to ensure full life-cycle engineering is provided to support naval aviation acquisition programs.
  • You will serve as the technical authority and organizational leader for air vehicle engineering/technical policy and strategy, systems safety engineering/technical policy propulsion and power systems engineering/technical policy and strategy.
  • You will be accountable for key disciplines of structural design, loads, aerodynamics, performance, flying qualities, flight controls, mechanical subsystems, materials, engines, fuels and batteries.
  • You will ensure NAWCAD is providing advanced technical expertise to meet acquisition program engineering, Fleet readiness and sustainment goals in alignment with the Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs).
  • You will be accountable for management of ASG engineering, readiness and sustainment staffing, prioritization of critical readiness support to the FRCs, program sustainment and readiness teams and provide barrier removal to enhance speed of response.
  • You will be the principal Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and Department of the Navy (DON) spokesperson/authority for air vehicle and propulsion/power system engineering matters and related technologies.
  • You will set goals and objectives for the Air Vehicle, Systems Safety, Propulsion and Power Systems, Logistics and Integration Departments; execution directly affects attainment of program and DON goals and priorities for aircraft readiness and cost.
