Paralegal Specialist (OA)

Position Description

You will serve as a Paralegal Specialist in the Office of General Counsel department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

• You will act as the Command's Freedom of information Act (FOIA) Coordinator and respond to FOIA requests and other requests for official information and testimony involving matters in litigation.
• You will support the command's Privacy Act Coordinator (PAC)/Privacy Act Officer (PAO) and, as such, serve as the principal point of contact for all command Privacy Act/PII matters.
• You will use legal reference sources, including electronic databases and internet-based reference sites.
• You will perform extensive independent legal research.
• You will prepare correspondence (e.g., preprinted forms, releases, or other legal documents) on legal administrative topics in accordance with regulations.
• You will administer research and analysis of employment and labor law, environmental and land use law, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy issues, or ethics for attorneys in litigation.
