Position Description

You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER (SENIOR TURBINE SYSTEMS SME) in the AIR SYSTEMS GROUP, PROPULSION & POWER ENG DEPT, and ENGINE AND APU DIVISION of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. The duty location of this position is Patuxent River, MD.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will provide specialized technical expertise and serves as technical liaison with in-service engineers to provide technical effort leadership for aircraft Turbine Systems.
  • You will establish and direct research projects, supports and manages design, development and qualification requirements to solve fleet problems and manage acquisition programs.
  • You will participate in the development and design of new or improved Turbine systems by assessing if available or imminent technology is sufficient to meet requirements or system concepts are applicable to fleet operational requirements.
  • You will ensure that all technical and support elements of the various Aircraft Turbine Systems Programs are integrated into a quality product for eventual fleet implementation.
  • You will act as a mentor to the journeymen and trainee engineers within the Branch providing technical advice and guidance as they develop technical expertise in Turbine Systems.
  • You will provide configuration management direction for design, development, production and fleet support assigned Turbine Systems.
  • You will maintain continuous contact with research and development personnel to be informed on all new engineering and scientific developments which might be applied in the design of the assigned weapon system project.
