Position Description

You will serve as a Supervisory General Engineer in the Metrology Engineering Division at the Navy Primary Standard Laboratory (NPSL) of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the supervisor and technical expert for the Metrology Engineering Production Support Program.
  • You will provide engineering and technical oversight, guidance, and support to ensure the timely establishment of new and/or upgraded calibration capabilities for both internal and external customers.
  • You will plan, coordinate, and conduct advance metrology engineering work, including the development and implementation of modified or new, innovative technical approaches and solutions to address evolving fleet and depot requirements.
  • You will manage the development and sustainment of calibration procedures, Calibration Problem Assistance Requests (CPAR), test and evaluate calibration equipment, and provide engineering support for field activities.
  • You will review and authorize calibration procedures developed by junior engineers and technicians, along with all statistical, engineering and requirement analyses, to ensure compliance with technical rigors, processes and policies.
  • You will coordinate and collaborate with the Naval Aviation Enterprise, the METCAL community, and other external organizations to exchange technical information, develop risk mitigation strategies, plan and execute research initiatives.
  • You will provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians on foundational metrology engineering topics, measurement science principles, and statistical/uncertainty and risk analysis.
