Position Description

You will serve as an ELECTRONIC MECHANIC in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will perform depot level overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting; alignment, installation and maintenance on electronic systems of greater complexity which includes maintaining prototype systems.
  • You will maintain ongoing prototype systems as well as implement maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems previously assigned to the activity.
  • You will work from manufacturer's specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders, determine the operation of circuits, locate points from which to take readings, and analyze circuit layout to complete necessary visual inspection.
  • You will assist engineering personnel in developing, debugging, or modifying diagnostic programs by recommending changes, identifying and investigating contradictions between test specifications or test requirement documents and test programs.
  • You will use a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, signal/pulse generators, oscilloscopes, and power supplies to isolate component defects.
  • You will install and connect control motors, generators, inverters, relays, distribution panels, junction boxes, switches, circuit breakers, fuses, terminal strips flexible conduit, cabling for radio, navigation and radar systems.
  • You will provide technical assistance to lower-level electronics mechanics, assist higher grade workers in the more complex overhaul, modification, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complete systems/subsystems, and components.
