Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist
- Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Serves as the Lead Systems Engineer for the TPO program, providing technical leadership across the full system lifecycle with a focus on system performance, capability development, and integration of emerging technologies. Combines systems engineering expertise with hands-on software development and data analysis to support system modeling, performance assessment, and decision-making. Ensures system requirements are defined, managed, and achieved while driving improvements in capability, cost, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Leads system-level design and integration activities, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with mission objectives. Defines and manages system performance requirements and develops software-based tools, scripts, and analytical models (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar) to evaluate system behavior, process test data, and identify performance gaps. Applies coding skills to automate workflows, analyze large datasets, and improve efficiency in test, integration, and evaluation activities.
Provides leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering collaboration across systems, software, and test disciplines. Bridges the gap between software development and systems engineering by translating operational needs into technical solutions and executable analysis tools. Works with the Chief Engineer (CHENG) to assess processes, identify gaps, and establish priorities for both engineering and data-driven analysis efforts.
Communicates program status, risks, and technical challenges to stakeholders, using data-driven insights and software-enabled analysis to inform decisions. Prepares and delivers technical briefings, reports, and documentation, ensuring traceability between system requirements, analytical results, and operational outcomes.
