Aircraft Engine Repairer

  • Position Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Disassembles aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories, removing tubing, fuel controls, pumps, etc., from engines and breaks down major assemblies in proper sequence. Determines if disassembled parts are reusable, recognizing scratches, burns, deformation, etc.

      Under technical surveillance of a journey-level mechanic, assembles gas turbines engines, various aircraft and gas turbine engine sub-assemblies, and parts/components.

      Examines, evaluates, reconditions and assembles sub-assemblies of limited variety such as assembling compressors or building up "hot"sections.

      Checks disassembled parts for defects such as warping, under or overweight or for continuity of wiring harnesses.

      The incumbent visual, dimensional, and tactile checks of individual parts for foreign object damage, stress fractures, excessive wear, etc.

      The incumbent determines the condition of all component parts in accordnace with technical specification and reconditions or replaces parts as necessary.

      May be called on to perform other tasks as assigned.

      May be required to review and/or certify the work performed by another for which he/she is certified to perform.

      May be required to train/mentor lower grade employees.
